Planner 5D Pricing 2026: Every Plan, the Free Version and Real Costs
Planner 5D is free to start, Premium is $59.99 a year and Professional is $399.99, but monthly billing costs far more and the App Store sells its own set of plans. We checked every price in October 2026 and worked out what a garden or yard project really costs.
Planner 5D costs $0 on its Free plan, $59.99 a year for Premium and $399.99 a year for Professional. If you'd rather pay month to month, those last two jump to $19.99 and $49.99 a month, which is where most of the confusion starts. We checked every plan on Planner 5D's website, its App Store and Google Play listings and its refund policy on October 24, 2026.
Planner 5D is a 2D and 3D home design app that also has a garden planner and a landscape mode. This post is about money: what each plan includes, what the free version leaves out, the fine print on renewals and refunds, and what a real backyard or garden project ends up costing. If you want to know whether the app is any good for yards, our Planner 5D review covers that side.
We make OutdoorBrite, an AI tool that redesigns a yard from a photo, so we compete with Planner 5D for some of the same people. We've stuck to the numbers Planner 5D publishes and linked the sources at the end.
Planner 5D pricing at a glance (October 2026)
Planner 5D sells three self-serve plans on the web plus a custom Enterprise tier. These are the US prices on planner5d.com; Planner 5D notes that local currency and taxes vary.
| Plan | Monthly billing | Annual billing | Per month on annual | What you get | Limits |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | $0 | 2D and 3D editor, unlimited projects, web and mobile | About 50% of the catalog, no renders, no floor plan upload |
| Premium | $19.99 | $59.99 | About $5 | Full 10,000+ item catalog, floor plan upload, standard renders, Budget Widget | 100 AI Studio credits a month (1,200 a year on annual) |
| Professional | $49.99 | $399.99 | About $33 | Unlimited 4K renders, 360-degree walkthroughs, CAD export, Price Estimator | 1,000 AI Studio credits a month (12,000 a year on annual) |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Custom | White-label planner, your own 3D catalog, API access | Quote only, through sales |
The pricing page headlines Premium as "$4.99 / month" and Professional as "$33.33 / month". Both figures are the annual price divided by 12. You still pay the full year up front.

The gap between monthly and annual is unusually wide. Twelve months of Premium on monthly billing comes to $239.88, four times the $59.99 annual price. On Professional, monthly billing for a year costs $599.88, about $200 more than paying annually.
What each plan includes
Free
The Free plan has no time limit. You can create and share as many projects as you like, work on the web or on a phone, and use the 2D and 3D editor. The catch is the catalog: you get about half of it, and the App Store description adds that the free version doesn't let you customize furniture. There are no renders and no floor plan upload.
Free accounts can also enter Design Battles, Planner 5D's design contests, where a win comes with Premium access.
Premium
Premium is the plan most homeowners end up on. It unlocks the full catalog of 10,000+ items, lets you upload a floor plan and turn it into a 3D project, imports 3D models from photos, and adds standard renders and the Budget Widget. It also includes 100 AI Studio credits a month on monthly billing, or 1,200 for the year on annual.
For a yard, Premium matters mainly because of the catalog. The free half leaves you with fewer plants, outdoor furniture and hardscaping objects to work with.
Professional
Professional ($49.99 a month or $399.99 a year) is aimed at designers and contractors. It adds unlimited 4K renders, 360-degree walkthroughs and panoramas, CAD export, uploads of your own 3D models (.obj, .fbx, .blend and others), a Specs and Docs Organizer, a Price Estimator, a branded profile and 1,000 AI Studio credits a month. Planner 5D labels it "most popular" and offers a free trial on it.
Enterprise
Enterprise is a custom deal for retailers and manufacturers: a white-label room planner, your own 3D product catalog, a product configurator with live pricing, API access and integrations with cart, CRM and quoting systems. It isn't relevant to a homeowner planning a garden.
Education
Verified teachers and professors can apply for free access through the Planner 5D Education program. Verification and program limits apply.
Is there a free version of Planner 5D?
Yes. The Free plan costs nothing and has no expiry date, so it isn't a trial. You get:
- The 2D and 3D editor on web and mobile
- Unlimited projects, with sharing and shared editing
- About 50% of the furniture and object catalog
You don't get the rest of the catalog, renders, floor plan upload, the Budget Widget or any AI Studio credits. For sketching a simple yard layout to see whether a 12 by 16 foot patio fits beside the lawn, the free plan is enough. For a finished-looking garden with the plants and materials you want, you'll probably hit the catalog limit.
Separately, Planner 5D offers trials on Premium and Professional. The pricing page doesn't state a trial length. It says eligibility depends on the offer shown before checkout, and that it allows one free trial per person. Check the trial length, the first billing date and the renewal price on the checkout screen before you start.
Hidden costs and fine print

The headline prices are clear. The extras below are where people get caught out.
App Store and Google Play prices are different. The iOS listing's description quotes Premium at $9.99 a month or $59.99 a year. Its in-app purchase list is longer and messier: annual interior design plans at $69.99 and $119.99, a $19.99 monthly house design plan, a $7.99 weekly plan, a $29.99 yearly subscription, full catalog access for 30 days at $6.99 or for a year at $15.99, and a $399.99 "Decor, Exterior, Landscape PRO" yearly plan. On Google Play, in-app purchases run from $0.99 to $399.99 per item. Which of these you're offered depends on where and how you sign up, so read the price on the purchase screen, not a screenshot from a blog.
Renewals are automatic. Planner 5D's refund policy says your payment method is charged at the start of every billing period, and annual plans are billed as one payment. The App Store listing adds that subscriptions renew unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the term ends.
Refunds are narrow. The refund policy (last modified February 24, 2025) says fees are non-refundable unless the digital content is proven defective, in which case you contact the help center within 14 days of purchase. Cancelling stops the next charge, but it takes effect at the end of the billing period. To cancel a trial without being charged, do it at least 24 hours before it ends.
App Store purchases are refunded by Apple. If you subscribed through Apple or Microsoft, Planner 5D's policy sends all refund requests to them.
AI credits run out. AI Studio credits are spent per generation, and the cost depends on the model, resolution and output count. Planner 5D's own example: 100 credits is about 50 images at 1K resolution with one model, or about 12 five-second video clips. Extra credit packs top up your balance, but their prices aren't listed on the pricing page.
Hiring a designer is extra. Planner 5D's "Hire a Designer" service starts at $99 per room, with $49 add-ons for 4K renders, CAD files or a 360-degree walkthrough. Its page is written for interiors and doesn't say whether it covers gardens.
Nothing gets built. Like any planning app, Planner 5D gives you a model and a render. Plants, pavers, materials and the crew who lays them are all separate costs.
A discount may pop up. The pricing page includes a "50% off your first year" offer that doesn't state which plan or terms it applies to. Treat it as an occasional promotion, not a list price.
What a typical project actually costs
Here's how the plans work out for two realistic situations.
A homeowner planning a backyard over one month. Say you want to lay out a patio, a lawn area and two raised garden beds and you expect to finish in four weeks. Start on Free to learn the editor. If the half catalog is too thin, one month of Premium costs $19.99. That's the cheapest way in, as long as you remember to cancel, because the policy won't refund an unwanted renewal. If the project might drag on past three months, the $59.99 annual plan is cheaper than paying monthly from month four onward.
A landscaper pitching 10 clients a year. A contractor who wants 4K renders and CAD export needs Professional. On annual billing that's $399.99, or about $40 per client across 10 jobs. Monthly billing during a busy season of six months would cost $299.94, so if your work is seasonal, compare both against your calendar. Keep in mind that each client's yard has to be rebuilt by hand in the editor, which is the real cost: your hours.
In both cases, the subscription is the small number. Your time spent modeling the yard, and the build itself, are the big ones.
Planner 5D pricing vs alternatives
Here's how Planner 5D compares with tools a homeowner usually weighs it against for outdoor projects. Planner 5D and iScape prices were checked October 24, 2026; Yardzen's packages come from our check on October 20, 2026.
| Tool | Free option | Entry price | Top self-serve price | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Planner 5D | Yes, no time limit | Premium $19.99/mo or $59.99/yr | Professional $49.99/mo or $399.99/yr | A 3D model of your yard built from catalog objects |
| OutdoorBrite | No | Starter $29/mo (25 redesigns) or $276/yr | Pro $149/mo (200 redesigns) or $1,428/yr | Your own yard photo redesigned in a chosen style |
| iScape | Free download, limited | Plus $14.99/mo | Pro $29.99/mo or $299.99/yr | Photo-based design with an object library, on iPhone and iPad |
| Yardzen | No | Small space from $295 | Backyard $995 to $1,995 | A human designer's plan with renders and a plant list |
Planner 5D is the cheapest of these if you're willing to build the yard yourself. OutdoorBrite costs more per month but starts from a photo of your actual yard, so you see your own fence and house in a new style in under a minute instead of modeling them. The Plus plan ($49 a month, or $39 a month billed annually) adds a plant list picked for your region and hardiness zone. It's paid only, with no free tier to test first, and it gives you visual concepts, not measured plans or CAD drawings.
If you want measured plans more than photos, our landscape design software page covers the trade-offs, and we compared more options in Planner 5D alternatives.
How to save on Planner 5D
- Pay annually if you'll use it past three months. Premium annual ($59.99) costs the same as three months of monthly billing. After that, monthly is pure overspend.
- Do the layout on Free first. Draw the yard, decide on zones and only upgrade when you need the full catalog or a render.
- Use one month of Premium for a short project. $19.99 beats $59.99 if you'll be done in four weeks, and you cancel right after.
- Buy on the web, not in the app. The web plans are clearly listed and the annual Premium price matches iOS. In-app lists include extra plans at different prices.
- Teachers and professors can get it free through the Education program.
- Set a reminder before renewal. Refunds for unused time aren't offered, so the cheapest month is the one you never get billed for.
Gardens and yards: is Premium enough?
For most homeowners designing a backyard or garden, yes. Premium unlocks every plant, tree and outdoor object, which is what the free plan lacks for outdoor work. Professional only pays off if you need 4K renders, CAD export for a contractor, or you're showing designs to paying clients.
What no plan adds is plant guidance. Planner 5D's plant objects are 3D models, so choosing plants that suit your climate, sun and soil happens outside the app. If that's the harder part of your project, an AI garden planner that suggests plants for your region may save more time than a bigger catalog. You can see how that works on OutdoorBrite.
FAQ
How much does Planner 5D cost per month? Premium costs $19.99 a month on monthly billing, and Professional costs $49.99 a month. On annual billing they work out to about $5 and $33 a month ($59.99 and $399.99 a year, paid up front). Prices were checked October 24, 2026, and local currency and taxes vary.
Is Planner 5D free? Yes. The Free plan costs $0 with no time limit and includes the 2D and 3D editor, unlimited projects and about half the catalog. Renders, floor plan upload and the full catalog need Premium.
Why does the App Store show different Planner 5D prices? The iOS listing describes Premium at $9.99 a month or $59.99 a year and lists several other in-app plans, from a $7.99 weekly plan to a $399.99 yearly PRO plan. The web lists Premium at $19.99 a month. The annual Premium price matches, so compare the price on your actual checkout screen.
Does Planner 5D offer a refund? Rarely. Its refund policy says fees are non-refundable unless the content is proven defective, reported within 14 days of purchase. Cancelling stops the next charge, effective at the end of the billing period. App Store and Microsoft Store purchases are refunded through Apple or Microsoft.
Does Planner 5D have a free trial? Planner 5D offers trials on Premium and Professional, limited to one per person. The pricing page doesn't state a trial length; it's shown at checkout. Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends to avoid a charge.
Is Planner 5D worth paying for to design a garden? Premium at $59.99 a year is good value if you want to draw a garden to scale and enjoy placing objects yourself. It won't recommend plants for your climate or show your real yard. For that, a photo-based tool fits better.
Is there a cheaper alternative to Planner 5D? For layout work, Planner 5D's own Free plan is the cheapest option. If what you want is to see your own yard in a new style, a photo-based AI tool like OutdoorBrite costs more per month but skips the hours of modeling.
